Dr. Ana Palacio

Ana Palacio MD, MPH is Assistant Professor at the University of Miami.
Dr. Palacio was born in Cleveland, Ohio but raised in Ecuador where she attended medical school at “Universidad Catolica Santiago de Guayaquil”. She met her husband, Leonardo Tamariz during medical school and they married in 1995. Shortly after that they moved to the United States to complete the Internal Medicine residency program at Jackson Memorial Hospital. After her residency she completed a General Internal Medicine fellowship and a Masters in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. During her fellowship she developed an interest in quality f care, health disparities and international health particularly for cardiovascular diseases. She collaborated in a health reform initiative in Ecuador and continues to be involved in several projects there.
After completing the fellowship, Dr. Palacio, Dr. Tamariz and their three children moved back to Miami in an effort to be closer to family and to contribute to their own heritage.
She currently works at the University of Miami-Humana Health Services Research Center, co-directs the Research Scholarly Activity Program for residents and teaches in the Miller School of Medicine.
